The trailblazing FIFA Unites: Women’s Series 2025 concluded in powerful and dramatic fashion this weekend in Berrechid, Morocco showcasing resilience, new beginnings, and the rapid global rise of women’s football. The four-team international showcase delivered inspiring storylines, with Chad emerging at the top of the table after finishing the competition unbeaten.

One of the most extraordinary stories came from Afghanistan, who marked their return to the international stage for the first time in nearly four years. Competing as Afghan Women United, the team was formed through FIFA’s multi-pillar Strategy for Action for Afghan Women’s Football. The players were selected after a series of trials held in Australia and England, bringing together a group of athletes driven by passion and purpose.

Under the guidance of head coach Pauline Hamill of Scotland and assistant coach Shilene Booysen of South Africa, Afghan Women United wasted no time making history. They scored their first goal in their opening match against Chad, and on Saturday delivered a landmark 7 – 0 victory over Libya — a symbolic moment celebrating courage and the power of opportunity.

Meanwhile, Chad completed a flawless run with three wins in three matches, securing first place after a gripping 1–0 win over Tunisia in Saturday’s final game. While Tunisia entered the tournament ranked 96th in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking and boasting experience from both the 2022 and 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Chad unranked at the start of the competition demonstrated that the global landscape of women’s football is changing rapidly.

New talent is emerging, new nations are rising, and the spirit of competition continues to transcend borders and expectations.
The 2025 Women’s Series not only celebrated football it highlighted hope, resilience, and the unstoppable growth of the women’s game worldwide.
