LOS ANGELES, CA – January 2, 2024 – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce that Oscar®-nominated producer Jennifer Fox will return for the fifth time to produce the prestigious 14th Governors Awards. Academy President Janet Yang expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting Fox’s experience and profound knowledge of the event.
The Governors Awards ceremony, set to take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood, will honor distinguished individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the motion picture arts and sciences.
Exceptional Honorees:
This year, Honorary Awards will be presented to acclaimed actress Angela Bassett, comedy legend Mel Brooks, and accomplished editor Carol Littleton. In addition, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be presented to Michelle Satter of the Sundance Institute for her outstanding humanitarian efforts that have brought credit to the industry.
Jennifer Fox’s Storied Career:
Jennifer Fox has left an indelible mark on the film industry, producing or executive producing iconic films over the last 15 years. Her impressive portfolio includes Tony Gilroy’s directorial debut, “Michael Clayton,” which earned seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Fox’s career began in development and production at Universal Pictures, where she contributed to notable films like “Erin Brockovich.”
Her collaboration with Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney’s production company, Section Eight, resulted in critically acclaimed titles such as “Syriana,” “Good Night, and Good Luck.,” and “The Informant!.” Fox’s diverse filmography also includes “Duplicity,” “The Bourne Legacy,” and “Nightcrawler.”
Currently working on her next film, “The Pack,” Jennifer Fox has previously produced the Academy’s 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th Governors Awards.
Prestigious Awards:
The Honorary Award, represented by an iconic Oscar statuette, is granted to honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or outstanding service to the Academy. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, also presented as an Oscar statuette, is given to an individual in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry.
