A humble Malcolm Smith entered a room full of photographers and journalists, less than 12 hours after his team won Super Bowl XLVIII. Smith was named the Most Valuable Player of that game and the new owner of a Chevrolet Silverado High Country.
Monday morning, Smith sat with his Coach, Pete Carroll and Roger Goodell, the National Football League Commissioner, until he took the podium for questions. He gave credit to his entire team, mainly his defense, saying the award could have gone to anyone.
It was a different look for an MVP, as Smith was a 7th round draft pick and wasn’t invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. But his second quarter interception touchdown return for 69 yards helped lock in those MVP votes. Still, Malcolm gave credit to his defense for their big plays, intensity and overall teamwork.
Malcolm Xavier Smith (born July 5, 1989) is an American football linebacker for theSeattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). Smith attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he played college football for the USC Trojans, and was drafted by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Smith was named Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLVIII.
