Zambian international Prisca Chilufya once again showcased her quality on the biggest stage, scoring a crucial second-half equalizer to help Angel City FC earn a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Seattle Reign FC at Lumen Field in National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action.
After Seattle Reign rallied from a first-half deficit with quick goals from Sally Menti and Mia Fishel early in the second half, Angel City responded through Chilufya. The dynamic forward found space behind the Reign defense before calmly finishing in the 72nd minute, leveling the match and securing an important road point for Angel City in a tightly contested playoff race.
The entertaining match featured end-to-end action, with Gisele Thompson opening the scoring for Angel City in the 32nd minute before Seattle responded with two goals in just two minutes. Chilufya’s composed finish ensured both teams shared the points in one of the weekend’s most exciting NWSL fixtures.
A Rising Star for Zambia
Born on June 8, 1999, in Kitwe, Zambia, Prisca Chilufya has developed into one of the country’s most talented attacking players. A pacey and versatile forward, she has proudly represented the Copper Queens on the international stage and has competed in Africa, Europe, Mexico, and the United States.
Chilufya began her senior club career with Red Arrows FC in Zambia before continuing her professional journey with clubs including BIIK Kazygurt (Kazakhstan), Tomiris-Turan, Fatih Karagümrük (Türkiye), FC Juárez (Mexico), Orlando Pride, and now Angel City FC in the National Women’s Soccer League. She has earned recognition for her speed, technical ability, intelligent movement, and eye for goal.
Internationally, Chilufya has represented Zambia since 2018 and has been an important member of the Copper Queens program. Her determination and perseverance have made her an inspiration to many young footballers across Zambia and Africa as women’s football continues to grow on the global stage.
With her match-saving goal in Seattle, Prisca Chilufya once again demonstrated why she remains one of Zambia’s brightest football talents and an important ambassador for African women’s football competing at the highest professional level.
