GLENDALE, Ariz. — September 20, 2026 — The Seattle Seahawks continued their strong start to the 2026 NFL season with a commanding 31–7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday at State Farm Stadium, improving to 2–0 and extending their winning streak to 12 consecutive games, including the postseason.
The victory also marked Seattle’s 10th consecutive win over Arizona, continuing the Seahawks’ recent dominance in the NFC West matchup.
Drew Lock Steps Up
With starting quarterback Sam Darnold unavailable because of a glute injury, Drew Lock made his first start in nearly two years and delivered an efficient performance.
Lock completed 19 of 26 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns, with all three touchdown passes going to wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Lock also avoided an interception and was sacked only once.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba Leads the Offensive Explosion
The biggest offensive story of the afternoon was Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who produced a career-defining performance.
Smith-Njigba finished with nine receptions for 155 yards and three touchdowns. His first score came on an explosive 82-yard touchdown reception from Lock, the longest reception of his NFL career.
He later added touchdown receptions of 7 yards and 12 yards, completing a three-touchdown afternoon.
Smith-Njigba’s performance continued the momentum of his breakout career and came after he entered the season as the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
Seattle Takes Control After Halftime
The game was tied 7–7 at halftime, but Seattle completely controlled the second half.
Lock connected with Smith-Njigba for the 7-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, followed by Jason Myers’ 33-yard field goal, giving Seattle a 17–7 advantage. Smith-Njigba added his third touchdown in the fourth quarter before tight end AJ Barner capped the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run.
Seattle scored 24 unanswered points in the second half.
Defense Continues to Set the Tone
Seattle’s defense once again played a major role in the victory, limiting Arizona to only 151 total yards.
The Seahawks held the Cardinals to 81 passing yards and 70 rushing yards, while Seattle produced 381 total yards, including 219 passing yards and 162 rushing yards.
Arizona quarterback Jacoby Brissett finished 17-of-28 for 95 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Tight end Trey McBride recorded eight receptions for 41 yards and Arizona’s only touchdown.
Seattle also received a key defensive play from Julian Love, who recorded an interception, while veteran defensive lineman Leonard Williams registered a sack of Brissett.
A Historic Winning Streak
With the victory, Seattle has now won 12 straight games, the longest winning streak in franchise history, surpassing the 11-game regular-season winning streak recorded by the 2005 Seahawks.
The Seahawks, the reigning Super Bowl champions, now return home with a 2–0 record and considerable momentum early in the 2026 campaign.
