SEATTLE, WA — A new chapter officially began for the Seattle Seahawks during Week 1 as the Khosla family was introduced as the franchise’s new controlling ownership group at Lumen Field.
Just days before the Seahawks opened their 2026 regular season, the National Football League approved the sale of the franchise to the Khosla family. The transaction officially closed on September 3, making the Khoslas the controlling owners of the Seahawks.
On September 9, 2026, the family formally met with members of the media at Lumen Field ahead of Seattle’s season-opening matchup against the New England Patriots. The introduction featured Vinod Khosla, Chair of the Seahawks; Neeru Khosla, Controlling Owner and President of the Seahawks Charitable Foundation; and Neal Khosla, Vice Chair.
A New Ownership Chapter
The Khosla family takes ownership of a franchise coming off a historic 2025 season and its second Super Bowl championship. Their arrival marks the fourth ownership group in Seahawks history and begins a new era following the years under the Paul G. Allen estate.
Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures, has emphasized the importance of preserving the Seahawks’ identity while building upon the traditions and culture that connect the organization with the Pacific Northwest.
In the family’s statement following the completion of the sale, the Khoslas said they were honored to begin the next chapter and highlighted the Seahawks’ championship culture, connection with the 12s and relationship with the Pacific Northwest.
Neeru Khosla and Community Impact
Community engagement is expected to be an important part of the new ownership era.
As President of the Seahawks Charitable Foundation, Neeru Khosla will focus particularly on youth development and education throughout the Pacific Northwest. The foundation’s work will include supporting the healthy social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of young people while working alongside organizations already serving communities throughout the region.
That emphasis creates another connection between the Seahawks organization and the broader community beyond the football field.
Meeting the 12s at Lumen Field
The timing of the ownership introduction was significant. The Khosla family was presented to the media on the same day Seattle prepared to begin its Super Bowl title defense against the New England Patriots.
The Week 1 matchup at Lumen Field was a rematch of Super Bowl LX, with Seattle hosting New England in the NFL Kickoff Game.
The Seahawks ultimately opened the 2026 regular season with a 13–10 victory over the Patriots, beginning the new ownership era with a home win in front of the 12s.
